If you’re heading into Arrowtown this weekend, expect things to be a little busier than usual.
The annual Arrowtown Autumn Festival is on, which means the village is in full swing. Think live music, local events, and a steady flow of people making the most of Arrowtown at its best.
Here’s how to do it properly.
Start with a wander
Saturday is the big one.
Market Day and the parade take over the village, with stalls running through Ramshaw Lane and crowds lining the streets for the afternoon parade.
It’s busy, it’s colourful, and it’s worth leaning into.
Park just outside the village and walk in. Take your time, have a look around, and let the morning unfold.
Then find a table
Once you’re in, you’ll want somewhere to land.
At Dishery, brunch is exactly what it should be. Good food, good coffee, and a table you don’t feel rushed away from.
With the village at full capacity, it’s one of those perfect spots to park up and hide from the main street mayhem.
We’ll also have Stevie Tom on tunes from 12–4pm, which tends to help.
Know before you go
Parking will be limited, especially in the morning
Road closures and managed crossings are in place during the parade
Expect crowds, particularly around Buckingham Street
Things ease off later in the afternoon
Saturday is easily the busiest day of the week, so a little planning goes a long way.
The short version
Park outside the village and walk in
Wander the markets and soak it up
Find a table and settle in
Stay longer than you meant to
Make a plan of it
Weekends like this don’t really suit winging it. Book a table, bring a few people, and let the day unfold from there.
